Note that Southern California falls under the Canadian Consulate in New York also listed on this website. Note this Embassy does not do immigration or passports.
The Canadian Consulate in New York does Immigration applications and the Canadian Embassy in Washington does Canadian passport issues. Note that those in Hawaii can also use the Australian Consulate in Honolulu when they need consular assistance from the Canadian government. This can be see below.
Canadian Consulate in San Francisco
When you lose your passport while in Hawaii or in Northern California. You can report your lost passport to the police and then take the case number to the Consulate. Not this one though. You will then need to apply for a temporary travel document so that you can return to Canada. Consular services is done by appointment only. If you are in Hawaii you can now use the Australian Consulate in Honolulu for assistance.
Consular Assistance
If you need to have document legalised then again you can contact the Consulate for an appointment so that you can have your documents legalised. Ensure that you look at the calendar that the Consulate will be open. The Consulate is closed on American as well as Canadian public holidays. If you live or are in Hawaii on holiday then you will need to also check that the Consulate is open. Since it is the Australian Consulate you will also need to check their public holidays.
If you are getting married and need a letter to certify that you are single you will need a freedom to marry letter. This letter will need to be certified before you use this to register your marriage in the United States. When you contact the Consulate, ensure that you tell them where you are located in the Untied States. You will note that they use one email address now.
