Canadian Consulate in Chandigarh

If you lost your passport while in the area, you will need to report the loss or theft to the Indian police. They will issue you with a card and a case number to show that the loss has been reported. You will then have to make an application for a new passport at the Canadian Consulate. They will add the police case number you have to your application. Once it has been processed they will issue you with a temporary travel document or passport. This so that you may go home.

If you have given birth while in India, you will need to report the birth of a Canadian born abroad. You will need to have all your original documents as well as have them translated and certified. You will need to complete the application form and then add with all your local documents and translations. The child will then be registered as a Canadian. Once this is done you will need to apply for a travel document for the child. This so that you can return to Canada.
If you are getting married, then you will need a letter or no impediment which is explained on this website. You will need to apply for this at the Consular. It takes a while and they will tell you when to collect the letter. Once you have this letter it will need to be translated and certified. Then only can you use it to register your marriage in India. Once you have registered your marriage you can then have this translated and certified so your spouse can return to Canada with you on a Canadian spousal visa.
