Canadian Embassy in Burkina Faso
If you lost your passport while in Burkina Faso you must report this to the police. They will issue you with a note with the case number on it for the next step. Call the Embassy and make an appointment for a new passport application. Complete the application and then attach the police card with the case number to it. They must have this to complete the application process. Once done they will issue you with a temporary travel document or passport. Some people have flights to meet when leaving the country.
If you have given birth in the country you will need all the local birth registration document translated and certified. Once this is complete you will need to make an appointment for the child to be registered. Take the child and all the documents with your Canadian passport to the Embassy. Complete the forms and then you will need to wait until they contact you again. Once this is done and it does take a while. You can then apply for a travel document or passport for the child.
