Below we have highlighted some of the main consular assistance issues in Dubai or the United Arab Emirates. These are some of the most common issues for expats and tourists alike. Apply for a Canadian Passport
If you have lost your Canadian passport while in the United Arab Emirates. This losss needs to be reported to the local police who will issue you with a criminal case number for the loss. This is normally on a police card. Make an appointment with the Embassy in Abu Dhabi or Consulate in Dubai for an appointment. Complete the application for a new passport and provide the police card with the case number on it.
The passport application will now be processed and they will tell you when to return. They can provide you with a new passport of a temporary travel document if you have to leave urgently. Not everyone live in the United Arab Emirates as many are holiday makers.

Marriages that occur in Dubai tend to be expat marrying an expat. You will each need to go to your respective Embassies or Consulates and ask for a letter of no impediment or freedom to marry letter. Complete the forms and this is to prove that you are single. They will tell you when to collect your letter. Once you have your letter you need to have this translated and certified in order to be used in Dubai.
Consular Assistance
Once you have had your letter translated and certified, you can now register your marriage in Dubai. You will then need to apply to have this translated and certified. You can now use this for a spousal visa for Canada or to your spouses home country.
If you need a public notary you can all them for an appointment. This is mainly to use to have your documents notarized for you. This is done by appoint only so call them on the telephone number or Canadian Embassy Dubai email address to make the appointment. Again see which documents can be notarized and what they cant do at the Embassy or Consulate.
If you have given birth in Dubai you will need to register the child as a Canadian born abroad. Take all the government documents for the birth registration as well as that from the hospital. Now have these translated and certified. Called the Embassy to make an appointment for a birth registration. Complete the forms at the Embassy and then you will need to wait as it does take a while. They will tell you when to return. Once this has been done you will need to apply for a passport for the child so that the child can travel back to Canada.
